Lisa C. Kates, M.D., is the president and founder of Center For Dermatology and Skin Care of Maryland. Dr. Kates attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, for her undergraduate studies, then earned her master's degree in Human Physiology at Hahnemann University. She received her medical degree from Hahnemannn University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After completing her internship at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Dr. Kates completed her residency at the prestigious Cook County Hospital in Chicago, where she excelled at dermatologic skin and laser surgery procedures.

She then rose to the position of Director of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and Consultant Attending of Dermatologic Surgery, training numerous residents. In addition to treating a wide range of dermatologic conditions, Dr. Kates specializes in advanced, minimally invasive cosmetic treatments under local anesthesia to provide a dramatic effect and restore a more youthful look.

Dr. Kates has been practicing dermatology and dermatologic surgery since 2000. Prior to founding the Center For Dermatology and Skin Care of Maryland, she practiced for five years at a thriving office in Chicago. She then moved back to Maryland to be close to her and her husband's family. She has been practicing in Anne Arundel County for over 15 years, offering innovative medical and cosmetic dermatology to her patients.

She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. As a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, she served on the youth education committee for four years. Dr. Kates has served as Vice Chair of the Leaders Society for the Dermatology Foundation and Vice President for the Keloid Foundation.

Dr. Kates lives with her family, including two dogs, in Howard County, Maryland.
