Lisa C. Kates, M.D.  is the president and founder of the Center for Dermatology and Skin Care of Maryland.

Dr. Kates specializes in advanced minimally invasive cosmetic techniques under local anesthesia to provide a dramatic effect and restore a more youthful look.  Our goal is to provide effective, safe treatments with little or no downtime.

She attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, obtaining her masters in Human Physiology at Hahnemann University.  She received her medical degree from Hahnemannn University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.   After completing her internship at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Dr. Kates pursued her residency at the prestigious Cook County Hospital where she excelled at dermatologic skin surgery and laser surgery procedures.  After her training she rose to the position of Director of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and Consultant Attending of Dermatologic Surgery.  While there she trained numerous residents.

Dr. Kates has been practicing Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery since 2000.  She practiced in a busy practice in Chicago for five years after completing her training.  She then moved back to Maryland to be close to her & her husband’s family.  She has been practicing in Anne Arundel County for several years and offers cutting edge medical and cosmetic dermatology to her patients.  She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.  As a member of the American Academy of Dermatology she has served on the youth education committee for four years.  Dr. Kates has also served as Vice Chair of the Leader Society for the Dermatology Foundation as well as the Vice President for the Keloid Foundation in the past.

Dr. Kates lives with her husband, son and daughter and Lighting, a greyhound mix,  in Howard County, Maryland.
